    KINDERKOINS

Yesterday I launched @KinderKoins, inspired by the video of Cha-Ching Money Smart Kids. Learning how to be responsible with money, fits learning about value of goods and what they represent at warenhuisje.nl

The interest and use of COMMUNITY CURRENCIES is rising, especially with building communities and trying to keep the value within the community (so it can strengthen).

At qoin you can read all about it. Here are the pointers I got out of reading the text:

    • Money is a social construct, a human invention based on TRUST.
    • Our official money is based on political choices and serves the INTEREST of some better than others.
    • COMPLEMENTARY money is a better term for it, but I think community currency just sounds better.
    • Money within a community is a generally accepted ‘INSTRUMENT’, that represents (you can calculate with it) and maintains (you can store it) a certain value, which facilitates the exchange of specific products and services (you can pay with it).
    • It’s an “information system to employ human effort” - Michael Linton
    • You earn it when you do a contribution to the economy and spend it when you take something out of the economy or #imho in the case of community currency it’s better to say ECOLOGY.
    • To conduct a transaction anything can be used as long as parties involved agree on the conditions. This does not necessarily have to be a legal currency. Potentially, each type of currency can TRANSFORM (be exchanged for) another type of currency.
    • Carefully consider the PURPOSE of the currency (commercial, social, mix) and the DESIGN criteria (support medium, function, issuing procedure and cost recuperation). TO DO for @KinderKoins :-)

Note: The little green pig was plucked from the net and is not the official logo for @KinderKoins (still needs to be thought through)
