warenhuisje.nl is a STARTUP IDEA that I have. “Warenhuisje” is Dutch and translates to ‘little department store’. It’s an online department store targeting the Dutch and Flemish market (there’s also warenhuisje.be), where you can buy sustainable, fair trade products for children.
IMAGINE you have a 7 year old daughter, who has been talking non stop about wanting a pair of red boots. Obviously there are many options open to you, both offline and online. Why not turn this activity into a LEARNING EXPERIENCE for your daughter and maybe even for yourself?
On warenhuisje.nl, you can not only search, find, add to cart and purchase. But you can also click on a video link that will show you and your daughter the people in their workplace who made the boots. Alternatively click on a gaming icon and play together to find all the different parts and materials to assemble the boots. Just a few examples.
Hopefully with warenhuisje.nl we can build a social eco-system that helps us move away from the consumption of cheap, cheaper and cheapest products that are also easy to just throw away. When we learn about the COLLABORATIVE EFFORT it took to get you products you were not able to make yourself, this will aid in increasing the market for sustainable fair trade goods and promote the concept of circular consumption. We as consumers can have a BIG IMPACT on the world when we understand that in the end there’s no supply without demand.
I’m sure you will have fun together and your daughter will wear her red boots with more pride and APPRECIATION.
